Hey there! Welcome to Weigh-in Wednesday: Week 1 of My Weight loss Journey! I’m so glad you stopped by for my very first check in with you for My 12 Week Weight loss Challenge ! As you know, I’m setting a plan and a goal to be healthy and ready for tailgate season!
My goal is simple: lose 20lbs in 12 weeks. That’s roughly 2 pounds per week between now and July 26. To do this, I’m using a free app (yep, free!) to count my calorie and activity level. If you read My 12 Week Weight loss Challenge, you know that implementing exercise into my daily schedule is critical. And, you will get to know me really well – weight loss (and gain!) is super personal.
Each Wednesday, I’ll update you right here about how my week went and how much weight I lost. If you want to follow my daily progress, stop by and check out my Instagram story! Each day, I’ll share with you a meal, a work out, or something I saw during my day that helped or hindered my progress. Real life, real time. Thank you, Instagram! 🙂
Today is Weigh-in Wednesday: Week 1 of My Weight loss Journey.
So, what’s my plan?
Ok, so I’m using an app called My Fitness Pal to log my calories and workouts. It’s super easy and best of all…FREE. Last Sunday, Copa surprised me with My Early Mother’s Day Gift ….. a Garmin Fit Activity Tracker (affiliate) to help me stay on track!Copa knew I was about to embark on My 12 Week Weight loss Challenge – this is a big deal for both of us! We LOVE to cook, and often spend an entire weekend day creating and sampling recipes for Totally Tailgates. Seriously, we ate two batches of Loaded Buffalo Chicken Tater Tots before I made a batch for a photo shoot! So naturally, it meant soooo much to me that he not only supports my commitment, but gave me a great tool to help me! I’ll share more about my Garmin later, but let’s just say that in the past 48hrs. I’m hooked on it so far!
It works in conjunction with My Fitness Pal, so everything is in sync. I know it was pricey, but I’m already super excited to finish my challenge 20 pounds slimmer with its help!
So, I know you want to know HOW I plan to lose 20 pounds in 12 weeks…..
I’m going to count calories and exercise. Super glamorous, right? Brand new idea, too! JK.
I need to balance my food choices with my caloric exertion. Based on medical advice, I need to take in 1250 calories each day to lose 2 pounds per week. I have a small frame and I’m on the shorter side, so this calorie base is right for me. (Hey, please check with your own doc before trying this or any plan!)
Oh, and I need to get off my rear and exercise. REALLY exercise.
I’m a pro at fake exercise, btw.
What’s fake exercise? Well, I will run errands all day in my tennis skirt & top OR in yoga pants and workout tank. Sure, it LOOKS like I’m really into a fitness friendly lifestyle. Truth be told, the tennis skirt and yoga pants have expandable waist lines.
A fake work out. Fake exercise.
No more – I promise! If you see me around Orlando in yoga pants, then this girl has been at the gym! Ditto for the tennis skirts. I’ll only wear ’em if we are on the courts.
SO – I’m counting each and every calorie.
I’m committed to working out 6 days a week. (I grabbed the best workout DVD ever for those days I don’t make it to the gym! No more excuses!)
Follow me on Instagram stories to see my daily updates!
Since I’ve only been on my plan for 48 hours, I don’t have weight loss to share with you – I’m still where I was on Sunday. That said, I’ve worked out and I’m starting to grasp the data from my Garmin to help me balance my strategy.
Each Wednesday, I’ll check back in with you and share screen shots of my food logs, other data points, etc. Some weeks I may hit my target, others I may not….it’s called real life! 🙂
So, here’s a snapshot of my sleep pattern Sunday night – no wonder I woke up refreshed on Monday morning!
Thank you soooo much for your support! I’m so glad you are here with me.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Game On!
Heather
P.S. I’m not a doctor. Shocker, I know! I’m a tailgater, so medical or health opinions surrounding my personal weight loss plan are not meant to be construed as medical advice or endorsement. Please check with a medical professional before starting this or any weight loss program.
