Update: December 15, 2018
Today is the 4th AutoNation Cure Bowl- The Battle of the Bayou! We attended the first two Cure Bowls as supporters for this incredible initiative. Never in a million years did I think I could be the 1 in 8 women diagnosed with breast cancer….and Stage 3 at that! (Here is my breast cancer story.)
Next year, I will be at the AutoNation Cure Bowl once again this shirt !

It’s officially bowl game season and we were right there for Orlando’s inaugural AutoNation Cure Bowl game this past weekend. The San Jose State Trojans became the very first Cure Bowl Champions – good football and a good cause!
Christmastime and bowl game season go hand in hand for Floridians. As a matter of fact, the Sunshine State boasts 8 bowl games for 2015-2016. In Orlando we host three bowl games and the excitement around town is contagious! This year, bowl game season kicked off nationwide on December 19 and Orlando’s newest (and third!) bowl game was right in the mix! The inaugural AutoNation Cure Bowl made its debut at the newly renovated Citrus Bowl this past weekend. The AutoNation Cure Bowl is unique in that it raises money to help fight breast cancer. Funds raised directly benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Together we can tackle this!
Pink, Pink, Pink!
The entire Orlando Citrus Bowl was transformed with the iconic breast cancer awareness color!
The AutoNation Cure Bowl had a few added bonuses for fans in the Florida Hospital Cure Village Fanfest. Free mammograms and other portals of information for breast cancer awareness were available at no charge.
Strolling through the Florida Hospital Cure Village at sunset was the perfect start to our evening at the bowl game!
There was lots of swag for fans, too! We adored the pink hand warmers, compliments of Wyndham Vacation Rentals.
After sauntering through the Florida Hospital Cure Village we headed over to the Cure Bowl Tailgate area. You know us….always looking for those great tailgates! The Cure Bowl hosted an AMAZING tailgate that was super family friendly. The official tailgate featured two free concerts with singer-songwriter Joe Nichols and country artist Jana Kramer.
Every good tailgate has to have a corn-hole game!
After our fair share of tailgating we heard police sirens announcing the arrival of one of the teams, so of course we headed over to see the entourage! I ran into Pounce the Panther, mascot for Georgia State University.
We enjoyed hearing San Jose State’s Marching Band rehearse before going into the stadium.
Once inside we took our seats for the opening ceremony. Lots of money was raised for breast cancer research!
We took a break to walk around the stadium and came across the merch tent. I have to say, I am a sucker for anything pink and am especially inclined to purchase bowl game merchandise when part of the proceeds go to a worthwhile cause. You will see me around town proudly sporting a Cure Bowl pink t-shirt!
San Jose State won the game 27-16. Well done, AutoNation CureBowl! You brought together two good teams for a really good cause! We enjoyed the Cure Bowl tailgate, the Florida Hospital Cure Village and the game!
