Summer Shrimp Skewers are a cinch to make, and so good you will feel like you are on vacation and dining at your favorite seafood restaurant! Whip up some hushpuppies and fire up that grill.
We couldn’t resist putting Summer Shrimp Skewers on the grill for supper. Enjoy them as appetizers or throw them over your favorite pasta or salad! Our Mandarin Orange Salad with Romaine and Iceberg Lettuce is an excellent side dish for your shrimp skewers.
These are delicious paired with your favorite crisp chardonnay. When company is coming over for a visit, marinate these before they arrive on your doorstep, then leisurely visit while they cook on the grill! This recipe uses precooked frozen shrimp- holla! And, you can dive into a Bacon Cheddar Cheeseball while the shrimp cook – it’s an easy, make ahead appetizer that will wow your friends!

Even though Copa and I are spoiled with access to amazing fresh seafood year round, nothing beats the convenience of frozen shrimp. We like to keep a bag in our freezer for shrimp fettuccine and of course, Summer Shrimp Skewers! The were under $6 at our neighborhood Wal-Mart. You just can’t beat the deal! Now, to get started, make sure you soak your bamboo skewers in water for thirty minutes prior to threading the Summer Shrimp Skewers. Or, you can always use metal grilling skewers, no soaking required! Next, toss the ingredients in a plastic bag with a tight seal. (affiliate)

TAKE IT TO THE TAILGATE TIP:
Marinate the shrimp overnight in the zip top bag. Toss the bag in your cooler and you are ready to tailgate! Make sure you pack skewers AND hand wipes – the zesty marinade is a little messy but the clean up is a cinch…and well worth the effort! Since the shrimp are fully cooked, they are great for on site tailgating!
Our lanai smelled so good as the Summer Shrimp Skewers were on the grill.
Copa and I were literally pulling the shrimp off the skewers and eating them right then and there…..half of our Summer Shrimp Skewers never even made it to my pretty appetizer tray!
A few of you have asked if a dipping sauce is needed. Honestly, the flavors are robust and the shrimp stands alone. Mind you, the marinade is not overwhelming, but the blend is so delicate that a dip might compete with your grilled shrimp goodness!

Summer Shrimp Skewers
Ingredients
- 40-60 shrimp we used pre-cooked
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 4 tbsp cilantro chopped fine
- 3 tbsp lime juice
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper we used freshly ground pepper
- 7-10 bamboo skewers soaked in fresh water for 30 min
Instructions
- Remove bamboo skewers from soaking bowl and set on a dry cloth or paper towel.
- Mix all ingredients in a zip lock plastic bag.
- Add shrimp; toss to coat.
- Marinate thirty minutes or overnight.
- When you are ready to grill, remove shrimp and throw away marinade and plastic bag.
- Thread shrimp on skewers. Grill over medium heat for 4-5 minutes turning each skewer once.
