PR’s Taco Palace in Orlando, FL is a local favorite. EVERYONE (except our tourist) knows about this great little gem tucked away just north of downtown. If you are in Orlando during Bowl Game Season (a.k.a December- January) and are ready for a change of pace from the attraction dining establishments, swing on into PR’s! Yesterday, I met my friends Coco & Kiki there for a casual girl’s lunch. We had a BLAST & I have to share it with you!
Now, hold on a sec! Don’t let the exterior of the building fool you.
PR’s is known for attracting an eclectic crowd. You never know who may be seated at the table next to you! PR’s is located within walking distance of The Avenue; Rollins College & the Alfond Inn are super close, too. For those of you who are new to the area, Winter Park is an upscale shopping, dining and residential area of Orlando.
So, if you are visiting us for a bowl game, you will find yourself downtown at least once. Camping World Stadium, bowl game central, is located downtown near the Amway Arena & the 408. PR’s (and Winter Park for that matter) is about 15 minutes away. SO worth it. Eat a PR’s with the fam & meander around The Avenue. (OR, do an upscale lunch/din on The Avenue!)
Ok, so you know where it is….now on to our lunch!
First, the decor is VERY casual.
PR’s is family friendly – the colors & whimsical decor will keep the younger children visually entertained at least until the chips & salsa are finished.
See what I mean? So casual that you can bring your sharpie and let everyone know exactly where you ate!
It is perfect.
Muy bien, PR’s!
As soon as we sat down, and the requisite chips & salsa arrived in the blink of an eye.
The chips were hot & the salsa had a fresh, full flavor. Ole!
It was the perfect start to our little luncheon.
Then, things got a little spicy…..Kiki ordered PR’s Stuffed Jalapeno Poppers as and appetizer. OH. MY. GOODNESS.
I’ve eaten “jalapeno poppers” before, but never anything like what was presented in this humble, paper lined plastic basket:
As if the poppers weren’t enough, queso was offered as a dipping sauce.
Go ahead. Pack 20 pounds on me now.
So worth it.
We chatted, caught up with one another, and waited happily for our entrees.
Coco & Kiki are so darn down to earth and FUN! It was a true ladies lunch and then some. We went through two baskets of chips & salsa AND the poppers before we realized it was time for our entrees to be presented.
Kiki selected the nachos….WOW….they looked amazing. And, you know how much I love nachos, right? (Hello! Sheet Pan Cheesy Chicken Nachos!)
Look at that guac!
I had the tostada combo….you saw it earlier but I had to show it off once more.
And, Coco had the fajitas. Serious steak strips, my friends!
We finished, hugged goodbye, and headed back to reality.
By the way, PR’s has garage doors that provide a nice breeze during your dining experience. See? I told you it was casual!
By the way, if you have discriminating tastes and may be thinking that a place with garage doors & vinyl chairs covered in sharpie art isn’t for you, think again.
Let Coco decide for you.
Coco earned the elevated (and highly coveted) social titles most Southern Belles only dream about…..they are the Holy Trinity of Social Affluence in the South.
She was a…..
Debutante.
Sorority Rush Chairman.
Homecoming Queen.
Sometimes, all Kiki & I can do is just sit back and bask in her glory.
If PR’s is good enough for Coco, it will be good enough for you. Promise.
Like I said earlier, you never know who will be seated next you at PR’s!
Muchos Gracias, PR’s!
P.S. – There are lots of TVs scattered around….great place for game day!
P.S.S. – This was not a sponsored post in any way shape or form. Just a little information for ya if you are headed our way for the bowl games!
P.S.S.S– Disclaimer: Yes, PR’s is family friendly. That said, there was more than one table enjoying rounds of beer at 11am yesterday. Fri-YAY! 🙂
