Bourbon Bacon Brie is a crowd pleaser for game days, the holidays, Golden Globe parties and date nights at home! Seriously, do we really ever need a reason to serve brie?!
Bourbon Bacon Brie
Sometimes, I just can’t get enough of a good thing! While this recipe takes a little bit of planning prior to serving your family or guests, it is totally worth it and is ALWAYS a crowd pleaser. If bourbon infused appetizers are your thing, check out my Bourbon Meatballs….they hang out in a slow cooker while you mingle with your guests!
Brie is such a perennial favorite, and brown sugar compliments the rich, creamy cheese in many recipes. However, the Bacon Jam is what sets this recipe apart! Your brie wheel will never be the same again.
The Players On The Field
Simple ingredients: crescent rolls, brown sugar, a big ‘ole brie wheel, bourbon and Bacon Jam.
First, pop open those crescent rolls and make a big rectangle. Your brown sugar, Bacon Jam and brie wheel will “nest” inside the pastry: Top brown sugar with Bacon Jamand drizzle bourbon on top. Place brie wheel on top of your three mixtures. Bring the edges of the crescent rolls together and press tightly so your brie wheel is totally covered & sealed inside the pastry dough. Cook as directed and……voila!
A few of you have asked me if I use a pie plate to bake the brie. Pie plates are are great option! I personally use this Pampered Chef pizza stone for cooking the brie if I am entertaining at home. However, if you are transporting your brie then opt for the pie plate. The lip on the the dish will prevent the brie from running of the serving dish!
The Bacon Jam takes a little time to prepare, so keep that in mind when planning your menu. I typically make the jam the day before, and pull it out of the fridge right before I make the Bourbon Bacon Brie appetizer.
Why stop at an appetizer? Throw a few slices of brie and bacon jam on fresh slices of bread for the most delicious grilled cheese evah! 🙂
The bourbon flavor is deep, rich and very much present in this appetizer. However, it is by no means overwhelming. While we love bourbon, it should not over power the simplicity of the creamy brie cheese. You can read all about our field trip to Woodford Reserve Bourbon Distillery right here. We also popped over to Makers Mark recently; I can’t wait to share that with you soon!
