I’ve thought a lot about how to approach this weight loss challenge. If you want to know why I am embarking on this journey, click here!
My 12 Week Weight Loss Challenge was a personal success, so I am going to use my same model!
Monday Motivations: Hustle to the Muscle
Here is what I plan to do over the next 4 weeks to achieve my goal of loosing 8 pounds:
- Keep my daily calorie count at 1200-1400
- Limit fat grams to 15-20 per day
- Exercise 4 times a week
- Track food and exercise with the My Fitness Pal app
- Allow myself 1 cheat day per week – no tracking on this day!
Wait. I’m not tracking carbs?!?!?!
That’s right.
I’ve found that my body loses weight and gains muscle when I focus on limiting fat grams….not carbs. Run over and see a sample menu from my previous challenge.
That’s why the whole Keto plan doesn’t work for my body type. The meats and cheeses make my fat gram count sky rocket! My hips respond accordingly!
Challenges I Will Need to Overcome This Month
I am an emotional eater. When situations get messy OR exciting in my life, I run for the nearest Hot Taco Dip, french fry platter or hot wings.
Between February 4 and March 3 (the duration of my challenge), here are the hurdles I need to be ready for:
- We will be putting my sweet kitty Miss Smokey down this month. She has terminal cancer and is too old for treatment. The tumor is inoperable. She is the kitty you saw on Instagram. Miss Smokey was by my side – literally- during my cancer recovery. She sleeps with me every single night! LOVE this girl.
- Valentine’s Day – who doesn’t LOVE chocolate on this day?!?
- February 20 marks the 1 year anniversary of my mastectomy. This surgery exposed the advanced stage of my cancer. Just thinking about how my life has changed since this date is almost too much. But then, I dwell on how great God has been to heal me and make me a better person. Cancer: What was meant for my test is now my testimony!
So yes, February will have lots of ups and downs for me. But I am committed to putting my health first, and will stick to the plan!
Run over to my Instagram Stories for daily updates, and check back here each Monday for a full update!
Thank you for stopping by and for your support! I am sooooo excited!
PS: I will be using the Apple watch my sweet Dad gave me for Christmas to keep track of steps, the My Fitness Pal app, etc. He and Copa are tech junkies and they have so much fun trading stories about new gadgets. I’m slow to warm to technology, but find this watch amazing!
